This program works Excellent for resizing and converting pictures. I have used it for years. The smaller we keep the files stored here the less this site will cost. I'm providing this primarily for the creation of Personal avatars to be up loaded.
Hello folks. Jim suggested I make mention of fact that "Photo Resizer" Android app available free off playstore worked great on resizing my Avatar picture. If you use an Android device you might give it a try. Doc

Hi Jim, at this stage is it only possible to upload photos via a third party hosting service? I see there are no options in the reply content box to attach/upload a photo from my computer, just asking. cheers

Gazza, there are only two places you can upload to directly with exception to your Avatar. Tech resources and member photo & Video Gallery. every thing else it third party. We are doing this so we don't have to worry about running out of space on our server. Flickr works well and is free with Advertisements up to 1TB. I have a pro account it's only $25 usd / year Unlimited storage and ad free with editing tools. All the other forum sites that I checked do the same. It's a standard setup for forums now.
I know a lot about a lot of things BUT I still have a lot to learn. Life is what you make of it. So, why not make a working machine to make it easier.
You can also use the "share photo" button, select "BB Code", pick a preview (thumbnail) size. I usually edit it after pasting to remove all the extra wording flickr throws in to leave just the first url and img tags and what's between them. What's nice about it is it allows you to post smaller pics to the thread so it is easy to read, but someone can still click to open the larger image if they want to see it.
If I replace the square brackets with curly ones it looks like this: {url=https://flic.kr/p/27gmZKu}{img}https://farm1.staticflickr.com/974/42180677102_e1585783e5_m.jpg{/img}{/url}

to get this, note that the photo is clickable:
This Is also a lot easier and faster because you don't need to go through all those extra steps.

Most sites use the 3'rd party hosting. This is standard ubb software set-up. It would be hard to change it. Problem with direct posted pix. is that guys WON'T re-size them before posting. Trust me when I say this, because I have seen it on the few other forums that allow direct post, and it is very annoying to look at a pic. and only see one little corner of it. Also it eats up space and things get messed up because of it. I use 2 hosting sites, Flickr, is the best because they have a size selector that is nice. I just started over there and it's not hard to learn. I also have a Photobucket account that I have ALWAYS used for last 15 years. This is not a requirement that is un-reasonable. other forums have it as standard and we need to follow the norm.
Please do not be offended by this requirement. Thank You!
