I got a broke down mini truck a few weeks ago for $900 bucks. The previous owner said a buddys kids had put bad gas in it and that is wouldn't run anymore. He said that he hadn't messed with it yet. The under carriage and engine were filthy. I pressure washed it the best I could.
Before messing with it I hit with starter fluid and turned it over. It hit and started on the fluid easily. I pulled the gas lines off the carb and they were completely dry. The tank was also completely empty.
The muffler was held on with baling wire and a hole in the pipe, so it got cut off. I dropped the gas tank and flushed it out, then replaced all the fuel lines all the way to the carb.
I primed the fuel pump and it started up, running rough but running. I changed the oil before running it. The air filter was also off and the intake to the carb with filthy...
Anyway after priming the lines I turned it over and it fired right up. The spring on the carb was gummed up and not closing the throttle so it wouldn't idle down. I sprayed some carb cleaner on the spring followed by some oil and it is closing the throttle better.
