Been trying to find parts for the loader cylinders on my old Case 1530 skidloader. ---- The only aftermarket stuff is for 2-1/2" and the originals are 3".
As a last ditch effort I went to Case industrial place in Bloomington and---- well list price for all 4 kits were $ 440. and you can put all 4 kits in your pocket! talk about a rip! --- anyway they let me have them for $88.10 each since I was a customer for many years, so lucky there, plus they not selling stuff like they used to! -- had to order the kits but did get the right ones first try! ( fancy that)!

Now to do the other side!---- might have to wait til spring to do the bucket cylinders.

Nice. I got to get me some pin spanner or make an adjustable one I don't think it's going to be too much longer and I'm going to have to start fixing some of my hydraulic stuff around here too.

I had some spanners that I made ---each one is different size but my made ones were for 3.5 and 4" cylinders on my 580ck backhoe tractor so didnt fit these.
Just got the other side done --- took a couple hours on this one --- probably wait til spring on the bucket cylinders.
Not sure how it will start/run in winter -- vh4d Wisconsin looks to use oil so not sure of its condition and this will be first winter I had it ready to use.

So !!! I splurged a little. this looked like a winner.... OTC 6613 Variable pin spanner wrench..

OTC is good brand for quality--or used to be. The adjustable idea is great and if I had to do more cylinders I would go that route.
Somebody at one time tried to get the tops off these with a punch and kinda messed up the holes so I used an 18" pipe wrench to loosen them, then BIG channel locks to un-screw them. These tops are kinda soft steel so gotta use caution with them.
I think whoever tried to unscrew them didnt take the little lock screw out. -- they are very small and always on the underside of the cylinders. Th 580ck backhoe has the same design on its cylinders and that was where I learned about the lock screws.
Some cylinders have a snap ring on top and that style is a real pita to get apart.

The 10 ft ram on the bucket truck boom has a snap ring in it. Actually it's more of a retainer ring cuz it kind of rolls in from outside it doesn't actually snap in. Feeds in from a little slit on the side of the cylinder and rolls around in the groove... it's weird took me a long time to figure it out.

what is November hydraulics month around here or what? I have a Cat 977L loader cylinder to repack, just brought it into the shop yesterday..
6-1/4" bore,all 475lbs of it-we don't even try to lift it by hand..install with forklift as well and a choker strap. Disassembly is easy but the rod/piston nut
I've been told is torqued to 1200ft/lbs..I don't know how I'm gonna pull that one off. Seal kit was $100. Big boy toys cost big boy dollars.

Ya! THAT is one big guy --- mine are 3"x28" on the lift and 3"x14" on the bucket. for being that small I had to struggle with them!
They listed my kits at $110. each but let us have them for $88.10 since we took 4 and are a old time customer!
big torque wrench with a multiplier on it to tighten them???? --- I tighten mine as tight as I can by hand then hit the end of the wrench a couple times hard and call it good! --been lucky so far with them staying tight.
November must be cylinder fixin month! --- for me the 25'th of Nov. last year they did the prostate removal on me,---still dont know where the cancer spread to since they didnt get the prostate out before it spread. --- right now I dont let it bother me ---- just go on with life as tho nuttin is wrong. ---- HEY November is also one of the horseradish months!!! dig and grind! LOL!!!

Got my spanner yesterday ....its pretty beefy....sweet....

now THAT is a tool!! --- nice! --- That should loosen most of them. I found that getting them to just crack is th hardest --- then they are not too hard to un-screw the rest of the way if they never been damaged.

Notice this has a square socket for adding a breaker bar to get more leverage. ......

Ya! --- saw that bar slot! --- thats a big help!
Ran my loader yesterday for a half hour to get the air out of the lines and cylinders, AND see how many leaks I still had. slid around the place to see how good the drives worked. They seam o.k.--- pull even and will spin the wheels on hard dry ground. Wasnt sure how powerful this mechanical drive would be. This one has variable speed pulley belt drive and oil clutches in each final case which is also the hydraulic oil res. and holds 14 gallons total with a cross tube allowing oil to move between sides. Gas tanks are also on each side and connected with a hose. -- kinda a strange machine and a bear to run but I kinda like it! --- just hope it starts this winter in case I need to move snow with it.
At least my new cylinder parts are holding and no leaks so far---all air out of system, loader raises and lowers without and jerking and has instant down pressure on all cylinders.
Loader pins are tight---bucket quick tach is even tight --- dont think this loader was ever used much since new!
Only problem I see is the hand controls !!!! --I am NOT used to them!! New- Hollands are foot control! LOL!!

a 100w incandescent reflector spotlight lamp shining on the engine in the winter cold will keep the engine a little warm -if you have electric where you store it..plug it in before a storm

On the NH 781 diesel for the last several years, I used a 55,000 salamander on it a half hour before starting it.--- probably use it on this one too. Mostly need to warm the hydraulic oil a little so it dont drag so hard on the starters and if they turn faster to begin with usually start right up. --- A mild winter would be nice, --- BUT the way the weather has been this summer----we could be in for a nasty one this time. Hope not but trying to get a couple units ready just in case!

salamander id good only run it when you need it ...

usually a half hour did it in the shed where I kept the 781. --- will try to get this one in the opensided shed here by the house. should be out of the wind enough to keep the heat under the loader. This Case is real low to the ground and not very big.
