gotta use what you got..and you are makin it happen at that..I see the F350 that was giving you spring perch problems a year or so ago

The 350 nose in pic is the new 1990 all wheel drive, 460 with a 5 speed manual in it. Bought it for junk but not that bad of a truck. been sittin in a guys back lot for 10 years and got possum beds on top of the motor. Dont want anymore 460 motors since they are junk like the 3.7 diesels are. Got a 460 in the bucket truck that I cant get to run, damn 4 barrel carb they stuck on it looks new but floods the motor and wont rev up. Not gonna waste time on this one. I need a 351 to put in it or better yet a 300 - 6.

Greenhouse is on hold now since its 0 degrees here today. Missed the auction too! Cant hack the cold.

Sonny Im gonna argue that the 460 is a good engine with some TLC and proper parts can be made into a great performer..replace the Carter carb with a Holley 650 Truck avenger, great carb right out of the box, doesnt have the bowl pivot problems either and is made for off road use and doesnt flood out..works for me,but Im not you..you do what works for you..u might also have some timing issues that are holding it back and that would also make it hard to start as well..I saw first hand an old junkyard 460 pulled from a stationwagon win 6 races in a lifted 1978 F350 after a timing chain set, race camshaft and a intake and carb swop.
I think the 351 would be a good replacement choice but you have the bellhousing to change out then too as the 351 has the small block pattern and the 460 you currently have has the big block..
BTW those older 1990s trucks are getting hard to find in good shape, just to FIND a 4x4 F350 dualie is a gold nugget if its not trashed or wrecked

This one is a solid truck, spent 99% of its life off road at tiling jobs. Owner bought it new in 90 and used it as the service truck for his tiling machines off road. I am the second owner. I never saw a 350 4 x 4 dual wheel jobber before. Neighbor has a 350 but its only a pickup bed and single wheel model I think he said it has an 8. something in it ( 4 mpg or less pulling his 35 foot tandem dual wheel gooseneck trailer with it)
I wanted to try starting this one this spring and see if it even will run again. I could use the 4 x 4 at the farm and in the winter so it has possibilities !

I did hope I could get the bucket truck motor running. Its an 84 and had a 370 from the factory so I dont know what they changed to put the 460 in it. Got a shitload of control tubes/wires/etc. running all over and a lot of them are not even hooked up to anything!

view from west end. door goes in this end. A row of flats go on each side of the middle and gives 4 feet down the middle to work.

is this gonna be a poly cover or glass panels
Posted By: sonny Re: greenhouse build - 02/18/2024 03:00 PM
They call it Thermaglass. Its 2 layers of hard stuff with air space between. ( has a gazillion tubes inside) Its 1/4" thick and fairly hard. I am putting strips over the outside to help keep the wind from suckin the panels off. I know we dont have any wind out here!! LOL!!! The main posts are 3' centers and set 3' deep in the ground to hold it down.
