Since this is a ground up build of another new MBN, this might be the time to add, edit or change the number of forums here.
One I would like to see is a forum just for shop builds, additions or remodels. It could include permanent shop equipment, electric service, water and waste systems, compressed air systems, lighting systems and other permanent or semi-permanent systems that make up the shop.
Dan.
YES....

Working on categories and forum titles. UBB boards are tricky but I'm learning.
a place to add plans I have most of the plans from the first site.
I don't think we need a lot of forums...I would be happy with something like

General Discussion
Builds/Projects
Tech Resources/Skills

Most of the time the thread title tells you most of what we need to know, and I just read all the latest posts anyway.

It's not like we are as big as TBN or something and need to divide everything up super fine...?
pay pal is getting 1/3 of donations there must be a better way tryed posting in donations
It's not a percent, it's a flat rate...bigger donation, smaller %.
2.9% + $0.30 for every trans action. Personally I can live with that
Thanks, I stand corrected.
in the end it's cheaper than setting up a bank account. with a bank account there would be monthly fees involved. this will serve the purpose. smile

Tom try this one..... Tech Resources/Skills
The place to share plans, drawings, procedures etc.
Let us know if you have any issues uploading

I was just playing with this.

Tech Resources/Skills is currently set for photos, won't allow posts without uploaded photos (img links don't count)...and max photo size is 0.

Thanks for the input I will check it out when I get back to the desktop. The screen on my phone is too small

I made adjustments to the forum permissions. Still have to attach at least 1 pic to create a new topic. the reason is if the info is going to be posted here it should be stored here. I'm experiencing a tone of bad links trying to save a copy of the old site. that program has been running 3 days now and I'm about ready to give up on it.
I would have tried to do it here, BUT with our slow wireless ISP it probably wouldn't have worked. At times it gets so slow that pages won't change.

If it wasn't for your dedication in trying to get the old site... I probably wouldn't have done this. Thanks for YOUR inspiration..
I like how simple it is now but I can see where, in the future, it could get very confusing or frustrating without a good search function

Tom it's not quite that bad only for like a dollar donation. It's the cheapest way to accept credit card payments and also the easiest way for multiple admins in different locations to have access to it. we get $19.12 out of a $20.00 donation. they get $0.30 + 2.9% per transaction. If sent as a friends and family transfer NOTHING is taken out.

WE have a search engine in the upper right corner......
I personally would like to keep the electronics category. While perhaps not very active on old site, wiring and circuits will continue to be a reality for any powered project, even to fuel shut off solinoids on diesels.

Beyond that I think we also need a broad "coffee corner" where general fat chewing is the norm. Boys will be boys....

Doc

Isn't that what the General Discussion section is?

I see there is one and I hope it's a good one. Seems some sites have a button that says search and not much more
I tried it it seems to work good
Thank you
I think keeping the electronics section is a good thing, there's so much change in that area that a forum section here could help someone..Doc is always good with that..I will sure try to help where I can
I went on the old site last night and printed off about 30 more old threads. I'll get them posted eventually. I have to edit the pdf files some to make them small enough to load.

I might add a couple more section also.

Do you think electrical should be a stand alone section or leave it under tech resources?
Looks like you are getting all the topics sorted out. Gonna be an awesome site!

I got all of the topics uploaded to new forums that I downloaded from the old site. It there are any others that anyone wants let me know.

The old site was like no other I have seen on the web. I hope this one develops the same way.

Tom,
I added a section under Tech resources for plans, designs etc
was looking at the site tonight and realized that I didn't ever post all the old threads from the old site. I will work on getting these uploaded. I have a bunch to do bare with me.
After looking at it more I was only missing one thread... My bad
I never got the rest of the old pix. of some of the original members added either! --- I did find a few more and was going to add them.
Its all good Gator, there was a tremendous amount of material to be uploaded over..take your time and get it right..and by all means don't interfere with quality welding/machine building time...LOL Thanks for the effort!
