New loggin tractor! lol! Dont know what year it is,---cant find any serial number on it but I would guess mid 50's.
Motor stuck but I now have it loose. One of the former owners had a complete new undercarriage put on it, then parked it in the shed where it sat for many years.
Front grill is messed up but the hood itself is good. Also have the guard that goes in front of the grill.
This is the long track 420,--5 roller and 5 speed transmission model.
I also have a 420-w utility loader/backhoe tractor. I think its a 1956 model from the numbers on it. It has the Davis 100 loader and Davis 100 backhoe for it that is not currently mounted on it.
These 420--430 series units are hard to get cause collectors grab them up and hoard them.
I need this one to log with so hope to get it running soon, IF this snow quits! lol!

Got the motor unstuck and running, loader goes up and down, BUT, ----- cant shift into gear! Damn clutch stuck and wont release! When I push hard on the peddle it makes a loud grinding noise, so I assume the clutch is out. IF that is the case,---motor gotta come out to work on the clutch.

thats an old beast Sonny..i just saw a JD 450D go for $5K at an auction..4way blade on the front..the 420 must be the predecessor by many years

420's were about mid to late 50's I think.

got it loose and running, BUT clutch wont release so you can put it in gear! Guess motor gotta come out to fix the clutch which was probably trashed by former owners!
loader works fine and dont creep down.

Ya!--- gotta block shit up before I start takin the motor out! Would let the loader down BUT then you cant get to anything.
Taking part of it off would be a hell of a job,--so some cylinder stops look to be best !

I made a set of lift cylinder supports for working on the engine with the loader mast up as well..worked great on and off for the last 20+years..1/4"wall 3"dia steel pipe cut lengthwise with end supports to spread the weight out over the cylinder end surface,it also has a section of 2"channel welded to the back side of the brace for additional strength..these supports just pop in and out, once the weight is on them they can't slip out..ive seen some Cat-made ones with u-bolts that hold them on but thought that was a bit of overkill. The loader has a factory brace on the other side to hold it up which I use additionally to the red shop made supports.Sorry for the photo orientation my photo editor is not updating properly.

I have a piece of 3" steam pipe that I prop up under the bucket if I have to work under it. Mine is small enough I could probably use a 2x4 but I like the pipe better
