Resurrection of a clapped out post hole auger

Clean up of the shaft

Here are the augers

One end of the big auger and I had found some quarter wall dom tube

Auger shaft is 2 in so I'd bore out about 50 thousandths

I had it fixed in the mill to drill the hole and indexed it 90 to poke the next one

Set up to weld the bolt together flange...done with 7018. Could of welding it right to the tube but this was smaller parts to work with...pick your battles I guess

The bigger auger I had torched off half wrap of flighting and an old coupler. I had turned a spigot to fit the I'd of the tube

Small auger bolted up..used soft 1/2 bolts

The coupler I cut off...and cobbled up

Great job on that digger! Beats the hell out of buying a new one ! PLUS it looks stronger!

Runs much more true holes clean out better
