The hoist is a wagon hoist and the bed was built new...I couldn't find a good one at at decent price that Ethier need mods or rusty as shit and needed of complete rebuilding...I hate rust and grinding rust! So new it was new steel was about same as used pos flat bed. Was decked with some used apetong trailer deck I pulled from work

amazing just how rusty those ford frames get..i sandblasted mine two years ago,the spare tire bracket was totally gone, how the spare didnt fall out on the road ill never know..watch that are behind the side tank the frame gets cracks in them right there,a lot of holes punched in the frame from the factory there,a weak spot..mine is under observation right now, might have to make some fishplates to put in there..your hoist looks like a tight fit with the second fuel tank..ill bet that was a tight fitup..nice 3"/4"channel in that dump-that'l last a while..good and strong

My 350 is in need of rear spring hangers too ----- cant figure out the right ones for it.--- looks like a bunch of different styles were used.
Trying to find a 350 gas truck----NO luck so far.
Nobody around here will touch a 7.3, so right now I am without a truck --- have already spent WAY too much money on this thing.
Mine has 120,000 miles on it and is totally junk! Motor is always broke down and automatic trans. is junk---wont shift right, etc!
Would really like to have a 94 GMC that has the 350 motor ---- had one, got talked into trading and got screwed on the deal.

My bucket truck is a 86 custom deluxe C30. 3 speed with a turbo 400. Faithful as hell.. carbureted with a HEI ignition. Most reliable vehicle. My RV is a 87 P30 chassis with a 454. 4 barrel. carbureted BUT I pulled the turbo 400 out & retrofitted it with a 4L80E. That big block thanked me.. 4 speed overdrive vs 3 spd. just about cut my cruising speed RPMs in half. I had to fabricate a shorter front drive shaft & rig up a TPS so the computer would know the throttle plate position.
Cost me more for the computer to control it than I paid for the transmission on Craig's list but I can change my shift points and firmness with the twist of a couple of dials on the dash and I have a display that tells me what gear the transmission is actually in, not just what is selected. when I'm not moving Like at a stop light it displays the selected gear. 1,2,3,or 4OD. when the torque converter locks out it displays a L after the 4 which is actually inside the D on the display. I replaced the 3spd shift indicator on the column with a 4spd OD one BUT nothing lines up. I have to fabricate a whole new linkage system to fix that and I don't drive it enough to care, especially since I have the digital display on the dash right above & behind the column indicator. Haven't bothered to checked what my fuel consumption did because every time I've used the RV since I put it in I was towing some thing like a car , boat or another camper. think I got 7.5 MPG when I went camping this summer towing the Pontoon boat which was loaded with the world... coolers, bikes etc. Not going to complain.. that's better than what I was getting with the T400 & no trailer. I averaged right at 7 MPG.. Could get better is I wanted to get killed on the highway for driving below 60. when I got it I was worried about the tractor trailers and it turns out the little cars flying by at Mach 1 pushes me around way worse than the trucks so I try to run at a decent pace.

Think I posted that project up on the old site too.

When you say spring hangers Sonny do you mean the spring perches that are on the forward part of the frame, ahead of the axle where the spring bolts to the frame,or the swinging yoke that the spring attaches to in the rear of the spring? the frame 'spring hangers' Ive never seen available from Ford, probably have to go to a parts yard and burn 'em off another truck..should be the same as they havent changed much at all, pretty simple part. Im amazed that you are having issues with a 7.3L most run out to 250K before major problems unless it was abused before you got it..
if you want to see real 7.3 diesel abuse get on YouTube and check this one out Zip Ties and Bias Plies-Slave Lake..
brutal no mercy cold starts on a F350 7.3L..>>>>>>do be warned he's a bit trash mouth, turn ur speakers down if you have chillin's around<<<<

Rear hangers behind the axle ---- there are a dozen different ones and it depends on which axle you have as to which style fits. ---have NO clue which axle I have. OR what brand, and that is all needed to know to get the stuff that fits. Looked at one junkyars a couple years ago and they only had 1 350 ---different style of course! lol!
I can get aftermarket ones ,---problem is getting the right ones!
Motor is junk---has been ever since we bought it. Had 99,100 on it the day I drove it home ---a few months later the high pressure oil pump went out---broken gear, pump shot, etc., ($900. at ford) they took turbo off and it didnt have any of the plastic vanes left on it, so new turbo and pedistal ($1,200 more) glow plugs, wires, labor, etc about that much more $$$. 6 years later and now at 120,000 motor wont run AGAIN and just starts , idels for a min--then when you step on it to go it starts blowing blue smoke and starts missin, knockin, rattlin, and shit! ---then just dies. I think this time the injection pump is out. also they told me 6 years ago the injectors were junk and needed different ones at cost of $1,800 and that is out, injection pump looks like around $1,200 give or take, so thats out.
This motor has been a royal pain since we've owned it.
I have had to be towed many times off the road when it just dies going down the road.--later found it blows glow plug fuses and when that happens---motor dies in the middle of the road.
Auto trans never shifted right so that is another problem. Bottom trans pan has METRIC stamped on it , so dont know what kind of POS ford stuck in it!
Truck cab is excellent because the truck never ran long enough to get hurt ---never started when temps got below 55 degrees, so was never drove in much salt or cold weather.
I love the truck---just dont have a motor or trans. in it that is any good. Finding a good gas motor and manual trans is out ---aint none to be had! Converting would be hard due to the electronic crap on it too. Unless I could find a good 351 or 400 from 1977 or before the computer crap went on and weld up mounts to fit. Clutch peddle is the hardest to make up.
I would really like to have a gm 350 fuel injected motor and manual trans in it! Easy to put in--again impossible to find!
Trying to make connections to look at a 98. gas motor, 5-speed, new brakes and alt. 190,000 on it ( cant find anything with less than 300,000 on them and still want big money for them). I dont really want 4-doors and utility bed or red paint, but that is what this one has. Sposed to look at it saturday---I think the guy will back out of the deal, so I dont have much hope of getting it.
Wouldnt even own a 1-ton, but gotta have one to pull my tri-axle general flatbed and the big dump trailer. ---1/2 or 3/4 ton not heavy enough to do the job. skidloader weighs over 6,000, ( the big ones, little case is around 4,000) 580ck, around 16,000, 310 crawler loader around 10,000 or so. --- trailer empty 6,500, so ya no little truck gonna pull that down the road!
I really miss my old 74, chevy c-65 for pulling the trailers! it had a 366 in it 10-speed and air brakes---If I could get it on the trailer---it would pull it!! lol!
License got so high I had to get rid of that truck--our fat-azzed governor hit the fees something terrible here. Used to run single axle little trailers for $18. per year--- had 3 of them, last year he hiked it to $118. per trailer, so now I have 3 trailers sitting that I cant use cause we cant afford that amount.
Down to the dump trailer (14,000) and 1-ton (14,000) and that gives 28,000 total load---I am usually over but that is close enough around here! --Long distance I hold it down.

Wow another extra long Sonny post! LOL!! Sorry guys but I get kinda yanked thinking about this junk motor! lol!

damn Sonny didnt mean to hit a nerve with the 7.3L..wow you have had nothing but issues with it..sounds like maybe a Cummins 6BT with a stick would be a good swop in?
anyway Ive been using Maine tags on all my trailers, never had an issue yet..a 12yr tag goes for $225. Maryland wants $125 for a flatbed 12K trailer tag..PER YEAR..
so that was a no-brainer to go with a Maine tag....https://mainetags.com/

Ya, done with diesel crap here! ---too expensive to start with, and nobody around here will touch them, and I dont have all of the expensive testers that you would need to try fixing them yourself, so this late in life----gotta stick to gas! lol!
Neighbor Mike has a bunch of 7.3's in 250 pickups with 250,000 to 300,000 on them --ALL of his are sitting now because the transmissions went out! LOL!! ---- only ford!
He quit farming last year so he is not concerned about the old ones. He does have a almost new 250 super duty diesel that he pulls his trailer with---he too got rid of all but 2 trailers--down from the 10 they had when farming due to fees.
His 250 has some other motor in it that sounds like a gas motor.--def crap on it too! anyway it does fine for him.---its the one in my 310 pix. of hauling it home. 4-doors and all! lol. Nice truck and we came home runnin 65 all the way from Havana with no sweat!
last month we went to Ohio in it to get a corn planter and it does great!
I probably got a dud in mine. still like the short truck. 10' flatbed, new hitch, part of a hoist under it that never worked, (still dont), easy to get around with and comfy to drive.
Will know Saturday where we stand----- Might still end up having to hunt for different motor/trans to put in it. Lotta work but cant find any 1-ton trucks around here that are reasonably priced! --- The junk ones, no title ones, and the super old ones all from $5,000 to $15,000 and out of our price range.

Got the tires on my truck tonight. Raised the bed to get a good pic

and CRAPPPPPPP Looks like it's time to rebuild the cylinder. single acting cylinder leaking around the shaft is leaking past the piston.. Damn.. maybe I'll look into a new cylinder. I have NO data on this one and I hate to tear it apart to see what's inside. I use that dump way too much to go without for too long. I can write it off on my business if I have to.
[Linked Image from live.staticflickr.com]
I'll measure it up tomorrow weather permitting and do some research.

I'm fortunate to have a heavy truck shop near that handles alot of hydraulic parts...and they have what I needed about 90 percent of the time.
This old ford is a 351 gas. I had bought pretty new year old I believe. But driving across interstate 90 for years to work took its toll.
I currently have a 6.ohh ford..been decent truck so far had fuel injection module put in recently starts great now. But the new 6.7s seem to have plenty of the HP's to pull

Thats the kind of hoist I would like to have on my bed!! good lookin unit! --- Hard to say what kind of internals it would have----- a lot of the cylinders are 1 off type or their own and sometimes hard to match up!
Tires look great too!

I bought that as a kit so long ago I can't remember Still think it was posted on the original site if says any thing. Rainy and cold today have an appointment at PB for balancing and alignment tomorrow morning. I should be able to find a compatible cylinder on S C or there are a few other sites I can check.

Might have to see if I can use/redo the 2 little cylinders I have of of a 1-ton ---- That hoist was a twin cylinder tele model!--- Hmmmm, gittin ideas again!

Mine is just and old wagon hoist...I did have to trim it some to get it to clear a crossmember and was re gussets? (If that is a word). The bed had been usable now for about two years but never finished...I'll get more pics of it when I see it again. Folks had been using it to clean out a shed. This was my primary snow removal machine

NICE truck! --- Ya, cant beat the old flatbeds with a hoist. My bed WAS 8' x 12' stake bed when we got the truck---I found 12' to not be real handy , always in the way of the hitch so I cut 2' off and its now 10',---perfect for this length truck.
Looked at a old truck cutoff I have here ---looks like wagon hoist under it too! --- ideas startin to blossom! lol! --- only thing is that I have a cross member in the way on my truck! ---- at least IF I can do something for a motor and trans in mine ---- will do the wagon jobber on it.
I also have a twin cylinder hoist----or part of one, frame plates didnt come with it, but have the cross rod, pump/tank/valve combo which is no good, cant use it on automatic trans anyway and the electric pump does work o.k. on this one, ( wish the trailer pump worked this good)
I had a plow on my old 72 250 hi-boy ---- almost unstopable ! lol! ---pushed some nasty stuff with it over the years. 300 motor, 4-speed, run in 4 lo and go!! --- like drivin a cat!

This looks like what I have. The cylinder is manufactured specifically for Pierce Arrow. 8 -7/8" stroke. Going to have to just pull it apart & see what's inside. I'm not into re-designing the lift.

Well If I in fact do have a pierce lift I can get a seal kit for it or even a whole new cylinder. this looks exactly like what's on my truck. Might just go for the cylinder...free shipping... I can rebuild the original at my leisure & use it on my utility trailer for a dump feature.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll just get a new cylinder. you know the older I get the more I realize that time is money. $198.00 & free shipping is a hell of a good deal. especially if I don't know if there's any scoring etc.
