Bandsaw Mill Plans

I'm planning on building a bandsaw mill in the next year or 2. I live on a property in Tasmania and have enough logs and trees to keep me busy for a while so it doesn't have to be mobile.
I would probably use car parts among things to complete the project, buying a whole front wheel drive should give me hubs, bearings, wheels etc, and can be picked up for a couple of hundred bucks and driven home.
I would like to be able to have a 4 foot log cut possible so it will be quite wide.

Does any one know of plans or projects on line that is of a similar idea? I have seen most youtube videos with Donndiy about the best suited to my thinking.

Thanks in advance.

Just about every thing I see is for chainsaws but I'll surely let you know if I come across one.

I know a lot about a lot of things BUT I still have a lot to learn.
Life is what you make of it. So, why not make a working machine to make it easier.

There's this one, there are a bunch of YouTube videos of it also:

Not exactly what I would call a cheap build, but i think it meets your "wide" requirement...

Next week I will start building one that will cut 6' wide x 20' long.
Over the years I have built 15+, band re-saws and mills. This will be the largest one.
I'll post some updates as we built it.

Hi Datman, something to think about, I see you are from Tassie so you would have seen thousands of commodores on the road. I have always like the design of the rear axle in that it could be used for another purpose like the main spindles for two wheels on a band saw mill. They are cheap to buy, can easily handle all of the loads from all directions, fully sealed bearings, mounting flange (hub) with bolts and a centre hub for the wheels and even a bolt on rear flange hub to drive it.
See if this works

Yep, Matts build is epic but I wold think overkill with the size materials he used. Steel is pretty pricy in Australia at the moment.

Cheers Gazza, yes have been spying on commodore bits for other projects I have in mind, maybe a rotary hoe or other equipment to go behind the tractor.

I may have a lead on some long substantial "I" beem for the rails that has been gathering dust on a blokes property.
