PAINT??? Wats that lol! ----Ya, the hoe generates a LOT of force when digging and takes some hefty metal to hold it together.

Took this thing apart. Going to redesign it to take up less space. Actually having thoughts of just welding some brackets to the back of the H beam and make it be a forklift attachment.

Went back and looked it up. I finished the hoe attachment for the FEL 10 years ago. Can't complain about getting all that use out of it. MY oldest grand daughter. ..... she starts driving this year.

I'll put some gussets in here when it goes back together. Might re-do the pivot to get more swing. only get about 45 deg. right now. think I'll upgrade the swing cylinders to a larger bore as well. That'll give me more power to push dirt over with and Slow down the swing some.

Picked 2000 bu of ear corn with 40 year old equipment.
uni 708
So, I spent about 1/2 the time repairing/replacing parts.
Most on the elevators. I worked on the uni 708 the week before and did not have any major trouble with it.

Been pickin 6 rows of corn by hand,---I have the NI 310 picker but too much trouble to go to the neighbors shed and drag it home for that small amount.
A neighbor at the other place picked with a 4-row Uni for several years til he quit farming.

Jim,--it will be worth it to make your swing longer! Bigger cylinders will do more side push and wont slow you down that much from what I can tell.
My old homemade excavator will come all the way around to the cable end, then you can go all the way the other direction the same amount making it kinda handy at times. Most of the diggin that I did with it was a 90 degree or dump,--as pile got bigger, I went a bit past that.
One job I did I had to go down 17 feet,(max for my hoe) and there was a mountain of dirt. I would dump and push the top over as I went but still a lotta dirt to move!
Side push is a handy feature to have. ---- Ole 580 Case will slide the tractor IF you get a big bite! lol! --- still need to get the injection pump fixed for that one too!
That pumpkin idea is neat too!!

got a load bank to rebuild, its like a big toaster with resistance elements used to apply load to a generator for testing..several of the load elements melted last time we used it here, made for a nice fireworks show..the elements get old and heat related fatigue sets in..-old timers like Sonny know about that for sure- the company Avtron who made it is out of business,so we have to size up other coils and have them made up to repair it..just another 4week job tying up the shop floor..spent another day doing maintenance on forklifts, greasing and filter/lube changes, dumped used oil off at the recycler.and got the all-important paperwork to go with that for an audit trail if need be..got a 5ft stump to grind next week if the weather is good..that oughta be an adventure

Not really this week...

Repowered a neighbor's snowthrower with a predator motor. I had a coupon, actually got it last year but just got to this fix before snow hits. Note that the original motor was also a clone.

What it started as. He doesn't understand small engines very well (he's more of a bits and bytes kind of guy) and he might have let a bit of his temper out at it in the process. Also, the plug hole is stripped from over enthusiastic diagnostic attempts.

I needed to evict a tenant, so the belly pan also came off and it all got a hose out and blow out. Pretty sure they just ran straight into my garage, I'll pick up some new sticky traps this week.

Pull the guard, pull the pulley, slide off the rear pulley, unbolt the motor.

Quick shot of the new motor and the carb. Gave the neighbor a brief lecture on how to clean the carb and why they are where all the trouble lies. Use the fuel cutoff, Luke. Gave him the motor guide and quick start card, but not the plug wrench. Told him it is never the source of trouble and leave it to heck alone.

Sorry I fell down on the job of taking the last few pics of it installed. It came home with me in the back of my truck, but I walked it back up the length of the block under its own power.

I may try and move the starter over eventually, but that will also require swapping the flywheel and tin, and I didn't feel up to it. Told him because it doesn't have all the heat shields and winter jets, he'll probably end up running it on half choke in the cold. I really should move over the oil drain extension, though.

Almost have my old snowblower ready-----still have to put in the new fuel l hose. Also need to put the little one back together.
Today I was trying to mow grass and weeds that got away from me during harvest. Frost killed them down so they are dry now and chop up easier.
For the last couple days I was trying to get the oil pan off the 150 and after finally getting it out ,---its like swiss cheese! --WAY too many holes to braze. Did find a good used pan, so now for finding a gasket for it. Dr. appt. for the 11'th, so that kills the day. Snow in our forecast for weekend here and cold temps. We been lucky that fairly decent weather has held this long.
Still not sure what to do with the motor in the skidloader.
