David Bradley #

the other tag has the same serial # but different model # 2FS2GC-1/A11
One guy said it looks like a Pincor.

Sonny with something as old as this unit I'd be careful first time running it up, and afterwards, insulation failure is possible..wear gloves at least

I inherited a Troybuilt 3250.

[Linked Image from live.staticflickr.com]

Engine is AFU.... exhaust valve broke, piston is trash and the cylinder wall is scored pretty good.
[Linked Image from live.staticflickr.com]
Damn tapered shaft ...
[Linked Image from live.staticflickr.com]
Went & got a predator... shaft is a wee bit shorter and no taper of course.
[Linked Image from live.staticflickr.com]

didn't want to tear it apart to chuck the shaft up in the lath to cut the taper so I took the recoil off, pulled the plug and spun the engine with a socket & a drill and cut the taper with a grinder.. close enough.... Bolts too short because the shaft is shorter. Damn thing was only engaged by about 5 threads from what I can tell.... any way ordered a 1" longer grade 8
bolt from McMaster-Car.. 5/16-24x8". shipping was more than the bolt.... broke the damn brush/rectifier in the process too. found that on Amazon and after my rewards points got it for $3.50. hope it works after all this..

I got it together with a few mods to the framework and such. my picture still haven't loaded up to flicker for some reason but as soon as I can I will post pictures. I should have the parts I need to finish tomorrow night. That is with the exception of the fitting on the fuel tank. The rubber grommet was dry rotted and when I was putting it together the air filter hit the shut-off valve and The grommet fell apart. So I found grommets & I also found fuel fittings that don't have that stupid shut off valve on it so they're not as big and I'm hoping it will clear the air filter so I don't have to make any more modifications. I'm also hoping that there's enough space between the muffler and the bottom of the tank. Looks like good distance but you'll see in the pictures when I can post them up. I had to remove the heat shield that was there because the muffler from the Briggs & Stratton was totally different and this engine wouldn't fit in the frame with it there. If I feel the tank gets too warm from this muffler which has a pretty decent heat shield on it, I'll fabricate a different heat shield to put between the muffler and the fuel tank.

its a SAE 609A taper, pretty standard for a gen engine less than 20hp..might want to check ebay for a used tapered generator crank, might be easier than cutting a taper on yours..I did a refit on an old 8kw Generac generator, the brushed gen end went bad so I wanted to replace it with a new generator end, only to find that Generac back in those days had their OWN taper standard on the crankshaft! So I replaced the crank with a used one off eBay..$50..easy

Already a done deal. Just waiting on the fitting for the fuel tank. Going with a std barb because the valve is too big for the space between the Air box & the tank.

I rigged a small tank up last night so I could test it. Runs great and is quieter than I expected. Pugged my lathe into it to try out the 220. Going to see if it'll run my 120v wire feed welder.

how were the condition of the brushes? usually these small gens are good for about 250-300hrs then start to have issues with brushes and brush holders melting..glad to hear it runs and works for you

Well honestly I broke one of the brushes messing with it and got a new pair. Other than that it was in good shape.

All put together. It runs my HF 220 welder without lugging down at all. It's going to be perfect for onsite welding. big enough to run the welder yet small enough to load without help or a crane. I can pick it up& load it in my van. I'm building a rack to set it on the back of my Quad. Got some bridge work over a ditch out in the woods where we go riding.

I just use a piece of 1/2 round stock cut the end in the lathe and weld a washer to the other end. works great.
