That's exactly how a work van I had a few years ago acted when it had a broken flex plate. the center of the plate was still attached to the crank shaft but the rest of it was pretty much free floating around that. It would lock together under a load BUT when there wasn't a load it sounded like a rod trying to exit the engine
I know a lot about a lot of things BUT I still have a lot to learn. Life is what you make of it. So, why not make a working machine to make it easier.
