trimmed some metal from the outer dimensions of the engine panel door,cut and bent up some channels (shown here)for the door inner side edges to reinforce it and add a retainer for the mineral wool sound panel that will attach to the door..with the door being active, or swing up for servicing it needed to have positive retention for the insulation..I bent some channel sections out of scrap 14ga sheet on the box brake..worked out good.here is a pic of the channel welded onto the back side of the door.

the door hinges are stainless steel 1/4"thick lift off hinges with 3/8"dia pins..didnt exactly work out like I wanted the welds came out a bit sloppy but ground down they dont look too bad..another coat of paint will blend it in.
