yep the bigger you go in sockets the more metal there is..I still have a 3/4"drive impact socket set I got back in the late 80's from Harbor Fright,use em when needed but when they are needed they are put to the test.I turned down the outer edge of the 2-1/2" socket on the lathe to fit Dexter trailer axle nuts so it fits inside the hubs to set torques. I have a complete 1" drive set with ratchet,extensions and long bar that goes out to 3", the whole set I think is right at 150lbs in metal box..but that doesnt come out too often,I think it was made by Williams..honestly only used it once,2-5/8"final drive shaft nuts on my Cat loader...thats some big time torque capacity there..next stop is spline drive sockets
